by Tom Ryan

published by William Morrow, hardcover to be released September 20, 2011

Book Description (from publisher)

Following Atticus is the remarkable true story of a man and a dog embarking on the challenge of a lifetime. This is author Tom Ryan’s inspiring tale of how he and his miniature schnauzer companion, the “Little Buddha” Atticus M. Finch, attempted to scale all forty-eight of New Hampshire’s four thousand foot White Mountains twice in the dead of winter. It is a story of love, loss, and the resilience of the human and animal spirit that’s as thrilling as Into Thin Air and featuring the most endearing and unforgettable canine protagonist since Marley and Me.

The Charlotte Hobbs Library would like to participate this year, 2010, and would appreciate knowing the title of this year’s choice as soon as possible.
    Thanks.

  2. This is such a great choice for One Book One Valley! There is literally something for everybody in this novella: it’s a short, easy read, it’s got a “damsel in distress,” it’s funny, it’s dark, it’s classic “good vs. evil,” and its setting and characters will feel familiar to people who have lived in Northern New England for any length of time.

Looking forward to the book discussions and adjunct events around the Valley this fall!
